At the Shanghai Motor Show, 2017 Concern Daimler presented the whole range of the updated models of Mercedes-Benz S-class in body W222, including “charged” sedan Mercedes-AMG S63 4MATIC 2018 model year. Externally, the car received a different front bumper with an even more advanced side air intakes and piping around them, as well as other radiator grilles with three double edges instead of four singles before. In addition, the new Mercedes-AMG S 63 2017-2018 stands modernized head optics, which is easily identified by the three diode strips against one in the pre-reform car, plus rear lights and bumper have changed a bit, and there are additional options for wheels. Inside, immediately attract the attention of two things: firstly, a very cool new three-spoke steering wheel with a flattened rim, with gearshift paddles, with a touch panel and Alcantara inserts on the work surface. Secondly, both the screen on the front panel removed under a single window, thereby creating the effect of their integrity.
For the rest, here, as in the past, high-quality finishing materials, inserts of carbon fiber, metal plates on the pedals, black ceiling and sports seats with improved lateral support, heating, ventilation and massage function. But we are talking about the Mercedes-AMG S63 W222 so that the main question – what is under the hood. If before the car was equipped with the 5.5-liter V8 Biturbo 585 hp, but nowhere is installed a completely different engine. This same unit that previously made its debut in the top-end E63 S W213. It is about a 4.0-liter Biturbo “Eight”, which produces 612 hp and 900 Nm of torque and thrust is transmitted to all wheels through a new 9-band automatic AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT, while earlier on the “es sixty-third” was put the 7-speed box. As a result – for acceleration from hundreds wheel drive Mercedes-AMG 4MATIC + S 63 spends only 3.5 seconds, which time 0.5 sec. a faster version of the pre-reform. Moreover, it is 0.7 with a faster 630-horsepower S65 with a V12 engine, but which comes exclusively with rear-wheel drive. Maximum speed is traditionally limited to 250 km/h, but with an optional package AMG Driver’s “collar” will be weakened to 300 km/h. It is expected that sales of the new S 63 will begin in early autumn 2017, prices will be presented by the summer. Pre-restyling sedans have sold a minimum of $172,000, and this does not include the many and not the cheap option.
