Autocar, referring to its own sources, reports that the company McLaren has begun to develop a new track super car. At the moment the model is known under the working index P15, but it is possible that before entering the market it will change its name.
Outside, the McLaren P15 will receive a whole range of aerodynamic components from racing cars, while the volume of the trunk will only carry a racing outfit. Information about the equipment of the salon yet, but the novelty will definitely be equipped with sports seats.
The basis of McLaren P15 will lie the carbon monocoque Monocage II, while all the body elements of the supercar will be made of carbon fiber. It is expected that in the running order the car will weigh no more than 1,300 kg.
According to Autocar, the British will equip the upcoming McLaren P15 with a revised 3.8-liter V8 engine with two turbines, which, working in conjunction with a modified seven-speed transmission from the 720S coupe, will develop about 800 hp.
In terms of dynamics, the supercar will be comparable to the McLaren P1. The latter accelerates from one place to a hundred in 2.8 seconds, overcoming the mark of 200 and 300 km/h after 6.8 and 16.5 seconds after the start, respectively. In this case, McLaren plans to get for P15 permission to ride on public roads.
Closed presentation of the new McLaren P15 should take place in late 2017, and the world premiere will be held at the Geneva Motor Show 2018. The circulation of the novelty will be 500 copies, the price of each of which is 840,000 pounds. Over time, the model may appear and hardcore GTR-version.
