In contrast to the open version of the supercar Ferrari F430 Spider, having a fabric roof, the new Ferrari 458 Italia Spider will get a hard top, reported by automobile publication Pistonheads, citing its own sources.
Initially, the Maranello decided that rigid folding roof for the new supercar is heavy, and its structure is too complex and expensive. But in the end engineers managed to solve these problems.
About how they do it, we will know very soon – the world debut of the new Ferrari 458 Spider is scheduled for the Frankfurt Motor Show in September 2011.
Recall that the coupe the 458 Italia debuted in mid-2009 and is equipped with 4.5-liter “eight”, issuing 570 hp. Working in tandem with a 7-speed robotized transmission, the supercar will start from zero to a hundred in 3.4 seconds and its top speed is 320 km/h.
