A couple of weeks before the opening of the Frankfurt Motor Show in 2017, the British automaker officially unveiled the Bentley Continental GT 3 generation coupe in the top version with the 6.0-liter W12 engine. Look at the photo of the new Bentley Continental GT 2018-2019, the designers managed to preserve the recognizable image of the predecessor, while the look of the model turned out to be more athletic and easy – an excellent work done! The car got a front axle shifted 135 mm ahead, which reduced the front overhang, increased the distance between the wheel arches and doors, the roof was slightly lower, the wheelbase and rear overhang were enlarged, and the rear window shift in the boot lid lost its bend. Front Bentley Continental GT received a new head optics, a modified grille, and a re-decorated bumper. On the side panels of the compartment, there are small slits of air ducts with chrome trim and “V12” labels, and completely new oval-shaped lanterns appeared that we already saw on the EXP 10 Speed 6 concept. The machine of the previous generation receives the most complaints from the outdated salon and multimedia. But now the sports car has got a completely digital panel of devices and a modern multimedia system with a large screen diagonal of 12.3 inches. And if to the luxurious finish of the car there were no claims before, now the company has raised the bar even higher. The design of the new Bentley Continental GT 2018-2019 uses natural leather, metal, and wood. It is noteworthy that the screen on the center console is located on a rotating panel with three planes. In addition to the plane with a display, as well as with a blind wooden insert, there is also a panel with three round analog instruments – an outside temperature indicator, a compass, and a chronometer. Plus, in equipping the new model, a projection appeared on the windshield, and for the customer, there are ample opportunities for personalization.


The overall length of the coupe is 4,805 (-13), the wheelbase has grown to 2,856 (+ 110), width – 1,954 (+ 7), height – 1,392 (-9). Curb weight of the car was reduced by 70 kg (up to 2,250), and the distribution of mass along the axes came out 55:45 against 58:42 earlier. And if on the machine of the previous generation of aluminum only the front wings and the boot lid were made, now all Continental GT III body panels are molded under air pressure from an aluminum sheet heated to 500 °C. Under the hood here is an upgraded 6.0-liter W12 engine with a double supercharged, borrowed from the crossover Bentayga. On the sports car, he gives out 635 hp. and 900 Nm of torque, while the engine on the predecessor develops 590 forces and 720 Nm. As a result, the acceleration time to a hundred dropped to 3.7 seconds, and the maximum speed reaches 333 km/h. The classic automatic was replaced by an 8-band robot with two clutches, and instead of a permanent all-wheel drive, the new Bentley Continental GT 2018-2019 is equipped with a permanent rear with a coupling of the front axle. On the front, there is a suspension with double wishbones on the car, and at the rear, there is a multi-lever system with three-chamber air springs, which contain 60% more air than the predecessor. Also, the model was equipped with active stabilizers with electric actuators operating from the 48-volt network to suppress rolls. Thus, the Bentley Continental GT in the new body promises to become not only more comfortable but also significantly more responsive in terms of handling than could not boast of the previous versions of the car. The list of changes in the “filling” turned out to be such that it draws on a real technical revolution.

The start of sales of the new Continental GT in Europe is scheduled for the spring of 2018. A year later, a variant with a convertible GTC should appear, then a version with V8 will appear in the lineup, and then a traditional scatter of various modifications and special versions will be waiting for us. Already in the base of the coupe equipped with diode matrix lights, heated and ventilated front seats, 21-inch wheel disks and a complex of modern security systems.
