At the auto show in Beijing in 2014, Volkswagen introduced the extreme hatchback Golf R 400, the figure in the title which means the engine power. While this is only a concept car, but during the exhibition became known that in the future, this model will be launched in a series.
Under the hood, Volkswagen Golf R Concept 400 is located 2.0-liter TSI turbo engine from the standard Golf 7 R, where it produces 300 forces. But setting another turbine, as well as upgraded the lubrication system and the power allowed to be removed from the engine extra hundred “horses”.
Peak torque of this unit reaches 450 nm and a broad range from 2400 to 6000 rev/min. Thrust is transmitted to all wheels through a 6-speed manual gearbox and 4Motion proprietary system based on the clutch Haldex.
From zero to hundreds of Volkswagen Golf R 400 accelerates in 3.9 seconds and its top speed of 280 km/h. Externally hatchback stands out aggressive bumper with carbon fiber elements, side skirts, extended wheel arches and wheels of exclusive design.
In addition, the car sports a yellow stripe on the radiator grille, painted in the same color brake calipers, rear spoiler and centrally located two exhaust pipes.
Earlier, there were rumors that Volkswagen is preparing a 370-horsepower version of the Golf 7 Evo, but the R 400 has surpassed all expectations. The serial version of the model promise to present in the autumn of 2015 at the Frankfurt Motor Show, and sales will begin in 2016 at a price about 50,000 euro.
