Temporarily zeroed import duties on electric cars

The official website of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) came the news to abolish import duties on electric vehicles in all countries members of the Eurasian Economic Union (Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Russia). If previously the customs duty on passenger cars was 17%, now it has been reduced to zero. As for the rates for trucks with a gross weight of up to five tons, it was reduced from 15 to 5%. Note that this decision affects only fully electric model and does not apply to vehicles with hybrid power plants. Temporary measure, which comes into force on 2 September 2016 and will be valid until September 2017. tax reduction period may be extended with the favorable development of the market electric vehicles and the necessary infrastructure, as well as in the case of start-up in the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union of series production electric models. The initiative to zeroing duties on electric cars were made from French of Renault, who also proposed to reduce the duty on import of trucks running on electric traction.
