Established in 2007, the Taiwanese company Luxgen decided to celebrate its 10th anniversary with the release of a new model – a compact U5 SUV. The press release notes that the development of this model involved specialists from Europe, the United States, and Japan. The new Luxgen U5 2018 received the silhouette of a conventional hatchback, while its distinctive feature is the lining on the front fenders, which visually continue the contours of the headlights and reach the very doors. In the cabin, instead of a standard display and a block-climate control, a large 12.0-inch touchscreen is installed. From it, you can manage music, microclimate, navigation and some other functions. At the same time under the bottom edge of the screen, there is a block of touch keys that are allocated to the most popular teams. Against the background of all this modern splendor, an analog combination of instruments with an old-fashioned tachometer and speedometer looks somewhat alien. Based on the Luxgen 5 sedan with a semi-independent rear suspension, the Luxeng U5 crossover reaches a length, width and height of 4,395, 1,763 and 1 594 mm respectively. The wheelbase of Taiwan’s SUV is 2,620 millimeters. In the motion, the Laxjin U5 results in a 1.6-liter naturally-aspirated engine with 120 hp. From transmissions, either a five-speed mechanics or a variator is proposed. The drive is exclusively front. In the list of equipment of the crossover, ESP, autoparker, round-robin cameras with separate cameras for monitoring blind areas, as well as an engine start button, a hatch, a tracking system for marking and six airbags are listed. The serial production of Luxgen U5 has already begun, while in Taiwan, sales of the new model will start in the fall of 2017. The car can be bought at a price of 23 000 to 26 000 dollars.
