Successful Czech car Skoda Octavia Tour

History of Skoda Octavia Tour has its origins in 1992, when the Czech company introduced its new, then-unnamed concept car developed jointly with Volkswagen experts. Prototype public liked, but he was at an early stage of development, so the next few years, manufacturers have spent on its improvement.
Seriously about the mass production of the concept began to speak only in 1995, when the foundation was laid for the new Skoda plant in the town of Mladá Boleslav. Again, we note that the construction of the production site would not be possible without the investment by Volkswagen, which in those years worked closely with the Czechs.
Well, at the Paris Motor Show 1996 it has already presented the production version of the concept, known as Skoda Octavia Tour. Already during the motor show Czechs took several dozen orders for the car, but a car came off the assembly line first only a few months later. The early years produced front-wheel version of the Octavia Tour, but soon there was a four-wheel drive vehicle and a modification.
As a platform for first generation models (1996-2010) Czechs chose A4, which had previously served as the basis for the fourth generation Volkswagen Golf IV. This “dolly” many car models were built, however, among them the Skoda Octavia Tour obtain larger. Vehicle dimensions are 4 507/1 731/1 431 mm (length, width and height, respectively). Wheelbase model is 2512 mm and ground clearance (clearance) is 134 millimeters.
With these dimensions, Skoda Octavia Tour (A4) can not only boast a spacious interior, but also a spacious luggage compartment volume of 528 liters. Interestingly, the rear car seat is easy to fold, allowing to increase the luggage compartment even more!
The strength of the Octavia Tour is considered its strict design. The shape of the car there is nothing superfluous. Simple body lines speak of its reliability, and the car looks elegant and presentable. Shop model to match the exterior design – a simple, but quite comfortable and stylish in its own way.
The range of power units for the first-generation Octavia Tour A4 consists of five types of gasoline engines with a displacement of 1.4 to 1.8 liters. The most powerful of these is the 1.8T engine, which develops 150 hp at 5700 rev/min.
Also on the market are cars with 1.9-liter turbodiesel capacity of 90 and 110 hp, which is markedly superior to petrol units in terms of fuel economy. Without exception, all the engines for the Skoda Octavia Tour were developed by German experts from VW.
The basic version with a 1.4-liter engine accelerates from zero to a hundred in 15.3 seconds (top speed – 171 km/h). The car with a 1.8-liter unit reaches 100 km/h in 8.4 seconds longer.(Maximum speed – 219 km/h), and the top-end diesel version of the Octavia Tour A4 is gaining hundred for 13.0 seconds, and its maximum speed is 182 km/h.
Gasoline engines are mated to a five-speed manual gearbox, or with quad “automatic”. For models with six-speed manual transmission diesel engine is provided.
Initially, Skoda Octavia Tour A4 was produced only in five-door hatchback, but already in 1998 there was also a version of the station wagon market. Two years later Czech experts have carried out a global restyling model, after which the car existed on the line intact right up to 2010.
One of the interesting small-scale modifications worth mentioning Skoda Octavia Tour RS, will be on sale in 2002. Being built on a restyled version of the model, the car is equipped with 1.8-liter turbo engine, developing 180 hp, providing acceleration to a hundred in 7.9 seconds . The equipment model includes xenon headlights, heated seats and Dynamic Stability Program ESP.
At the time, the Skoda Octavia Tour was introduced on the market in three different trim levels: Classic, Ambiente and Elegance. The first is a basic version of the model, however, and she has a very good equipment.
There are adjustable steering column, adjustable height driver seat, power steering, airbag.Ambience and the Elegance can boast the presence of full power accessories, a large number of airbags, air conditioning system, ABS system and many others.
Today buy Skoda Octavia Tour can be in the secondary market, the average price of the car (depending on the year of manufacture, condition and configuration) ranges from $3,100 to $7,800.
