The smallest Jeep crossover will be built for the Indian market

The head of the company Jeep Mike Manley said that in the future the model range of the American brand will be replenished with the most compact crossover, the length of which is less than four meters. The corresponding statement made by the top manager at the Los Angeles Motor Show 2017.
It is known that work on such a SUV has already begun, while India is considered as the main market for the model, where a preferential excise rate of 12% spreads for cars with a length of less than 4 meters, instead of the standard 24-27% for larger cars.
According to rumors, the most compact Jeep will be built on the modernized “cart” of the Brazilian hatchback Fiat Argo, which in the future will debut in Europe as Fiat Punto of the new generation.
The car is planned to be equipped with small engines, which will allow Jeep to achieve maximum benefits in India. Most likely, the line of power units of the all-road car will be represented by gasoline engines up to 1.2 liters, as well as diesel engines up to 1.5 liters.
The timing of the appearance of such a model on sale is not specified, but it is known that in India, a compact crossover Jeep will have to compete with Ford EcoSport, Suzuki Vitara Brezza and Tata Nexon.
