July 27, 2017, at a special event, The Great Eight Phantoms, the British manufacturer introduced a completely new Rolls-Royce Phantom VIII generation, which replaced the predecessor for a long time (according to modern automotive standards) for fourteen years. The world premiere of the model will be held in September at the Frankfurt Motor Show. Outside the new Rolls-Royce Phantom, 2017-2018 can easily be confused with the predecessor, as the differences between them lie in the details. Designers of the brand abandoned the “extra” lines on the body, and also removed individual navigation lights. On the Phantom in the new body, the whole world is concentrated in single blocks, which, among other things, also have laser-phosphor sections capable of lighting the road at a distance of up to 600 meters. The branded grille of the new Rolls Royce Phantom 2018 was visually combined with the bodywork, and the statuette “Spirit of Ecstasy” was set slightly higher. The front and rear doors of the model received servo, while in terms of interior decoration the car again is not much different from its predecessor. In the salon of the new Rolls-Royce Phantom 2018, there are ventilation ventilators with metal coin-regulators, horizontal temperature adjustment knobs, and a traditional steering wheel. But from the classic dashboard has been renounced in favor of a completely digital with a 12.3-inch display. The screen of the multimedia system here is pull-out, and one of the art pictures can be used as the background image. The entertainment complex is managed by a washer located between the seats. A projection display is also available. Free space above the head in the cabin of the new Phantom 8 was slightly larger, while on the second row there are separate seats, between which is a massive central console. If necessary, the seats can be deployed so that the passengers sit facing each other. Folding displays and folding tables are also available. The Rolls-Royce Phantom 2017-2018 reaches a length of 5,762 (+ 77), a width of 2,018 (+ 29) and a height of 1,646 mm (+ 8). The wheelbase of the sedan has decreased to 3,552 mm (-19). The new generation model has a long-wheelbase EWB modification – the body in the area of the rear doors here is stretched by 200 mm. Rolls-Royce Phantom in 2018 received a new bodywork design, which the company proudly calls “Architecture of Luxury”, which can literally be translated as “luxury architecture.” The model has a traditional carrying body, but it is almost entirely made of aluminum, which allowed to reduce its weight and increase the stiffness by 30%. In running order, the new Phantom weighs 2,625 kg, which is 75 kg heavier than its predecessor. Such a significant difference is due to the fact that the British have seriously approached the issue of noise isolation of the cabin. The car received a two-layer glass with a thickness of 6 mm, and the total weight of insulating materials reaches 130 kg. The wheels are filled with foam-filled Continental tires, which are 9 dB quieter than similar tires without foam filler, but slightly heavier. As for the suspension, the front of the RR Phantom VIII is equipped with a two-lever system, and at the rear – a five-link construction. Naturally, everywhere used pneumatic elements, while the sedan also received an active suspension of the Magic Carpet Ride, the principle of operation which is largely similar to the Audi A8 D5. So, under a windshield, the stereo camera analyzing a relief in a mode of real time and sending signals to actuators is established. The latter operates from the 48-volt network and, if necessary, can change the position of the body with the help of stabilizers of lateral stability. Active suspension works only at speeds up to 100 km/h. The Rolls-Royce Phantom 8 is driven by an upgraded 6.75-liter engine, which received two turbochargers and instead of the previous 460 hp. And 720 Nm develops 571 hp. And 900 Nm of torque. The motor works in conjunction with the eight-band ZF. This stuffing allows the sedan to accelerate from place to spot in 5.3 seconds, and the maximum speed is limited to electronics at 250 km/h. For the safety of movement are responsible for automatic braking, adaptive cruise control, a camera of a circular view, a night vision system, a tracking function for marking and much more. The start of sales of Rolls-Royce Phantom in the new body is scheduled for autumn 2017. In the UK, a luxury sedan can be bought at a price of at least 400,000 pounds , but the coupe and cabriolet in the Phantom family will no longer be: they were successfully replaced by the Wraith and Dawn models.
