In June 2011, the Opel company has officially unveiled a new three-door Astra J GTC hatchback, extending the photos and details about the new product, whose debut to the public was held in late September at the Frankfurt Motor Show. Compared with five-door, the new Opel Astra J GTC became 15 mm lower, and its wheelbase has increased by 10 mm (2 685 to 2 695 mm). In addition, the model is extended by 40 mm and the front track by 30 mm – back.

Other distinctive features of the new Opel Astra GTC is mechatronic chassis with adaptive shock absorbers, as well as borrowed from a charged version of the Insignia OPC front suspension with High Performance Strut swivel.
