German automaker Mercedes-Benz has brought to Detroit Motor Show is not only the new Mercedes SL 2012, but two hybrid sedan E-Class, one of which will be sold in Europe, and another – in the US, China and Japan. For European customers, who prefer diesel engines, in the Mercedes E 300 prepared modification BlueTEC HYBRID, which combines 204 hp (500 nm) four-cylinder diesel engine, working together with a 20-kilowatt electric motor, providing an additional 250 Nm of torque. Thus, the peak time of the power plant on the Mercedes E 300 BlueTEC HYBRID achieves an impressive 750 Nm. This car is able to gain a hundred places with 7.5 seconds to accelerate to a speed of 242 km/h, but spend only 4.2 liters of fuel per 100 kilometers. The second hybrid mercedes to stand in Detroit was the E 400 HYBRID with a 302-horsepower gasoline “Six” (370 Nm) and the same electric motor of 20 kW, which is mounted on the above described E 300 BlueTEC HYBRID. To disperse hundreds from this modification bit faster – 6.7 seconds, but the maximum speed is lower – 209 km/h. In the combined cycle Mercedes E 400 HYBRID consumes 8.7 liters of fuel per hundred kilometers. Both versions are available in the sedan and the diesel version for Europe will be available in station wagon. Hybrids are equipped with lithium-ion battery, the system start/stop, regenerative braking and the system, when the engine load limit is cut.
