During a press conference at an automobile exhibition Interauto 2011 in Moscow, President of the Volga car – Igor Komarov said that the chief designer of AvtoVAZ from 1 October 2011 will occupy the Briton Steve Mattin (Steve Mattin). His career Steve started in 1987, took a job at DaimlerChrysler, and in 1997 he went to work at Mercedes-Benz, becoming the author of the design Mercedes-Benz A-Class model, as well as taking part in the development of the flagship S-Class in the previous body W220, SL roadster (R230), and the SUV ML-Class (W163) (Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe) and the GLS-Class. In the period from 2005 to 2009 Steve Mattin he was vice-president and design director in the company Volvo, where he led the creation of sedan and wagon 60th series, as well as midsizeĀ XC60 crossover. Few would argue that the design has never been a strong point of AvtoVAZ. But now, according to a press release, the domestic auto giant is going to “make design one of the key values of the brand Lada”. And one of the first steps in this direction should be the opening of automotive design studio in Moscow, AvtoVAZ.
