The Land Rover company can not say goodbye to the off-road car Defender, which made it legendary. Production of the car was discontinued two years ago: the SUV does not fit in with stricter requirements for economy and environmental friendliness.
But for the 70th anniversary of Land Rover they decided to release a limited and very exclusive series of Defender. And the department of the Classic has prepared 150 sets for this purpose. Under the hood of the SUV, the British managed to shove a 5-liter V8 naturally aspirated engine of 405 hp. He was co-aggregated with an 8-speed automatic ZF box, which has a sports mode. A short Land Rover Defender 90 with this pair can accelerate to 60 mph (96 km/h) in just 5.6 seconds. The maximum speed is electronically limited to 170 km/h.
Naturally, the Defender received more powerful brakes (front discs with a diameter of 335 mm, rear wheels – 300 mm). The suspension has been reconfigured, the car has received other shock absorbers and springs, anti-roll bars and new 18-inch wheels with 265/65 tires.
All the off-road qualities the car has kept: it remained all-wheel drive with the possibility of forced blocking of interaxle and inter-wheel differentials.
The interior of the car is trimmed with expensive leather, here there are sports seats Recaro and a multimedia system with navigation.
The machine will be produced in only 150 copies in short- and long-base versions. The cost of the jubilee Land Rover Defender V8 is 150 thousand pounds sterling.
