At the Geneva Motor Show 2018, the world premiere of the Hyundai Santa Fe crossover 4 generation, the first details of which became known at the beginning of the year, and full information about the model was revealed in February. The launch of the new Hyundai Santa Fe 2018 (photos and prices) is scheduled for the summer of this year, so the time between the debut of the car and its appearance on the market will be absolutely minimal. Outside, the all-terrain vehicle was transformed from the word completely – nothing was left of the car of the previous generation in the guise of the novelty. It uses a completely different design, tested earlier on the Kona and NEXO. The front of the Hyundai Santa Fe 2018-2019 in the new body is distinguished by a grille with an unusual pattern, and on top of it is framed a wide chrome trim that flows into the support of an incredibly narrow head optics. On the sides of the bumper in wide niches is located additional lighting equipment with several sections. The crossover feed is highlighted with new lanterns with a decorative jumper between them, a bumper with a massive insert and integrated into the fifth door by a small visor-spoiler, designed to protect the glass from dirt. In addition, the new Hyundai Santa Fe model received a relief hood, muscular wings, wide lining on the doors and a completely redefined window line. Rearview mirrors are now located on the legs, and on the front windows appeared triangular windows in the manner of minivans. In the car salon (see photo) it became more spacious, the manufacturer improved the quality of finishing materials, and the front panel architecture resembles that of the i30 hatchback. Vseedorodnik got a new instrument panel and a steering wheel, a re-designed central console and a torpedo. The screen of the multimedia system on Santa Fe 4 was made as a stand-alone tablet supporting Apple CarPlay and a set of voice commands created in cooperation with the local firm Kakao. Plus there is a wireless charging function for smartphones and support for remote access using a special application (you can check the fuel level, start the engine for warming up, open or close doors).
Hyundai Santa Fe 2018-2019 model year is built on a modernized platform of the predecessor, the share of high-strength hot-stamping steels in the body structure increased 2.5 times, and the torsional stiffness became higher by 15.4%. All this allowed not only to reduce the level of noise and vibration but also provided an increased level of passive safety. In terms of overall dimensions, the crossover (characteristics) became a bit larger: the length is 4 770 mm (+ 70), the wheelbase – 2,765 (+ 65), the width added 10 mm – to 1,890, and the height remained the same – 1,680 mm. Ground clearance (clearance) is not yet specified. In the interior of the model it became more spacious, the volume of the trunk, which in the five-seater version is 625 liters (+ 40), was slightly larger, and 130 liters versus 120 in the seven-seat version (the third row is available for a surcharge). The coefficient of aerodynamic resistance could not be particularly improved: here it is 0.337 (it was 0.34). Under the hood of the Hyundai Santa Fe IV remained the same engines as before. While the range for the South Korea market is known, where the car is offered a 2.0-liter T-GDi gas turbocharger with a capacity of 235 hp, as well as two diesel engines – R2.0 (186 hp) and R2.2 (202 hp). But if earlier they were combined with six-stage, now they all put a new 8-band automatic. Another was the all-wheel-drive system called HTRAC (not to be confused with all-wheel drive cars of Genesis brand). Here, the front-wheel drive is constant, and the rear axle is connected with a fully electric clutch (previously it was electro-hydraulic), which reacts more quickly to slipping. In addition, the power steering on the new Santa Fe moved to the rail.
