Kia is preparing to enter the Indian market and the current auto show in New Delhi is its first exhibition in this country. At the motor show Koreans showed a bright concept of the SP crossover.
The concept, which is the forerunner of the production model: a compact crossover, in the segment of which in India is now a real boom. In Kia, they say that they created SP Concept taking into account the preferences of the local clientele. At the same time, the design of the machine was developed at the headquarters of Kia in Seoul under the supervision of the chief designer of the company Peter Schreier.
Externally, the car looks almost serial: no futuristic elements. The only thing that is unlikely to appear on the production model: a huge light alloy wheels with low-profile rubber. Bet on youth: in an aggressive form. Optics in two rows, large wheel arches, short overhangs.
But from the interior of the concept on the serial version, most likely, there will be no trace. The front panel is solved in an absolutely minimalist style with a minimum of buttons. At the top of it is a widescreen multimedia screen. The instrument panel is a virtual one based on another large screen. All this is unlikely to go into the series, as Indian buyers are not rich and they do not need such excesses.
Now Kia is building its own plant in India, its production capacity will be 300 thousand cars a year. The compact crossover will be the first model of the company, which they will begin to collect in the middle of next year.
