New electric car Nissan Leaf 2018

Presentation of the electric car Nissan Leaf 2018-2019 second generation was held simultaneously in Japan, the US in early September 2017, and the European premiere of the new model will be held in the middle of the month at the Frankfurt Motor Show. The company kept its word, seriously changing the face of the new Nissan Leaf 2018, in comparison with its predecessor . If the latter has a not too expressive design with smooth body contours, now they have been replaced by sharp edges, plus a lot of interesting solutions have been applied in the exterior design. For example, the Nissan Leaf 2018 in the new body received a stub with imitation of the radiator grille, a two-tone body color, the effect of a “floating” roof, stylish zigzag taillights, a simulated diffuser in the rear bumper, and a fashionable wheel rims. In general, the electric car looks like a slightly enlarged version of the Micra 5 model . The salon of the electric car does not issue anything especially remarkable, except for an unusual gear selector on the torpedo, but the same is installed on the Leaf of the first generation. The instrument panel took a more traditional form with an analog speedometer on the right and an LCD display to display the rest of the information to its left.

The center console of the new Nissan Leaf 2 housed a 7.0-inch display of infotainment system that supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and the blue stitching will become a signature feature of all future electric vehicles of the brand. In addition, the company notes that they have seriously worked on improving the noise insulation of the model.

Specifications

The overall length of the new Nissan Leaf 2018 has increased to 4 480 mm (+ 35), the wheelbase (2,700) has not changed, the width is 1,790 (+ 20), the height is 1,540 (-10), the ground clearance is 150 millimeters – 10), the volume of the trunk is declared at the level of 435 liters (+ 65), the curb weight of the car in the European specification is 1,535 kg. The superstructure of the bodywork and chassis architecture (McPherson strut front and torsion beam rear) remained the same, but the suspension has been upgraded, the center of gravity was able to slightly reduce, and other settings electric power steering made it possible to reduce the number of turns of steering wheel from lock to lock with 3.3 to 2 , 7. The electric motor power of the new model Nissan Leaf 2018-2019 increased to 110 kW, i.е. to 150 hp and maximum torque is now equal to 320 Nm (109 to force the precursor and 280 nm), and the capacity of the traction battery during its previous size could be increased to 40 kWh (initially was 24, and a restyled version 30). As a result, from a place to a hundred the electric hatchback accelerates now in about 8.0 seconds, and the maximum speed, as before, is limited at 144 km/h. Initially for the Nissan Leaf II they announced a battery for 60 kWh, but now it became known that this will appear, but in 2018. The power reserve varies greatly, depending on the measurement technique. The most optimistic cycle JC08 (Japanese) promises already 400 km, while the European NEDC announces 378, but the most realistic looks is the American EPA, which promises only 242 kilometers. With a more capacious battery, the mileage should increase to 320 km. The recharging time depends on the type of outlet (AC or DC) and the permissible load, so when connecting the Leaf to the home network, it may take 8 to 16 hours to fully charge the batteries. But in a special fast charging station you can replenish the capacity of batteries by 80% in 40 minutes. In addition, the new Nissan Leaf 2018 introduced V2G (vehicle-to-grid) technology, providing the ability to provide an electric cottage in the event of a power outage. Also from the interesting features of the model is worth noting the introduction of e-Pedal technology. Activation of this function allows you to slow down the electric car to a complete stop without using the brake pedal. It is enough just to release the accelerator, as the machine will automatically start to lose its course. The company notes that this is enough in 90% of road situations, and only in the remaining ten the driver will need to use the brake pedal.

The start of sales of the new Nissan Leaf 2 in the domestic market is scheduled for early October at a price of 3,150,360 yen, and in Europe, Canada and the USA (from $ 29,990) the first copies will appear at dealers in January 2018. In the equipment of the car included an automatic parking system, as well as a complex ProPilot, allowing you to entrust the management of the machine electronics. True, it works only on the highway and is able to independently move within the same band.
