The new generation of the Porsche 911 get KERS

All modifications of the Porsche 911 sports car will be equipped with the next generation of kinetic energy recovery system KERS.
Thus, in contrast to systems that are now used in Formula 1, from the released braking energy is not accumulated in batteries, and in a special flywheel. A similar system is already in use on the racing version of the Porsche 911 GT3 R with the previous year.
Wheelbase Porsche 911 new generation will increase by about 100 mm, which allows engineers to place the flywheel between the engine and gearbox. Its activation will be done by a separate button in the cabin, but in practice such a system would improve the acceleration of the car and slightly reduce fuel consumption.
In addition, it became known that the novelty will receive the new six-cylinder engine, the amount of which will be reduced from the current 3.6 to 3.4 liters, and power on the contrary – to increase up to 350 hp, which should ensure a reduction vrememi acceleration from zero to hundred to 4.8 seconds.
The world premiere of the new 2012 Porsche 911 is scheduled for the Frankfurt Motor Show 2011 this fall.
