Edition Automobile reports that the next (second) generation BMW i8 coupe will be approximately two times more powerful than the current version of the model.
Bavarians are planning to equip a new electric power plant, which will consist of three units and an upgraded set of high-capacity batteries. It is expected that BMW i8 in the new body will be able to pass without additional charge up to 500 km.

The total output of three electric motors is 750 hp For comparison, the current version of the coupe is equipped with 362-strong hybrid setup consisting of a 1.5-liter turbocharged internal combustion engine, an electric motor and lithium battery unit.
The new BMW i8 coupe will receive adaptive suspension with a function allowing to analyze the condition of the roadway in front and all-wheel drive system with the distribution of traction between the wheels. According to rumors, the production i8 series of the second generation is planned for 2022 or 2023.
