A former journalist and ecologist Nikolya Yulo, who in May 2017 took the post of Minister of the complex ecological transformation of France, said that the country plans to ban the sale and production of cars with petrol and diesel engines by 2040. At the moment, the share of hybrids and electric vehicles in France account for only 3.5% and 1.2% of all car sales, which means the government will need to actively encourage the purchase of these machines before entering such a ban. It is also unclear what the French would do with the already released cars on gasoline and diesel as their operation in the country after 2040 will also be prohibited. Nikolya Yulo only noticed that affluent families to provide financial support for the replacement of old machines in an environmentally friendly new one.
