Until recently, the pickup Ford F-150 could only be ordered with gasoline engines, but in January 2018, the model appeared diesel modification, equipped with a 3.0-liter engine PowerStroke. Although in a press release, this engine is called “new”, but in fact it turned out to be the renamed 3.0-liter V6 Lion, which is produced by the British branch of the American brand. This unit is well known by the models of the concern PSA: Jaguar XF, Land Rover Discovery 4 and Range Rover Sport. However, if the “British” engine has two turbochargers, then the diesel F-150 uses one – with variable geometry. On the pickup, it works in conjunction with the standard nine-band SelectShift, developing 247 hp. and 600 Nm of torque. The diesel Ford F-150 is offered with both rear and all-wheel drive, as well as with two types of cabs: a two-row SuperCrew and a “one and a half” SuperCab. There are also two options for the cargo area: 5.5 or 6.5 feet long (about 168 and 198 mm respectively). The carrying capacity is 916 kg, while such a machine is capable of towing a loaded trailer weighing up to 5,170 kg. Acceptance of orders for a pickup truck with diesel in the US started in mid-January 2018, but the first buyers will receive their cars only in the spring. The price of the modification is not specified.
