At the Geneva Motor Show in 2018, the premiere of the new supercar Ferrari 488 Pista, which is not too resonant for the ear, is actually translated from the Spanish as a “track.” In fact, we have before us a racing version of the model adapted for public roads, which was originally called the GTO in the media.
Compared with the original model, the new Ferrari 488 Pista (photo, price) received a number of differences. S-Duct air intake appeared on the front, and the spoiler at the stern was taller and longer, due to what it generates 20% more downforce.
Plus, the Italians reworked the air ducts under the bottom of the car, which also positively affected the aerodynamics of the model. The weight of the supercar was reduced by 90 kg (up to 1 280) thanks to the active use in the design of the carbon, from which the front fairing, the motor cover, rear spoiler, and diffuser, as well as optional 20-inch wheels, are made.
Ferrari 488 Pista 2018-2019 was equipped with a 3.9-liter atmospheric V8 engine with two turbines, which received light crankshafts and a flywheel, a carbon-fiber intake manifold, titanium connecting rods, and a new exhaust manifold made of the Inconel high-temperature alloy.
As a result of these improvements, the engine’s response rate increased and the initial 670 hp. up to 720 “horses”, and the peak torque was lifted from 760 to 770 Nm (at 3,000 rpm). As a result, the most powerful atmospheric “eight” in the company’s history was obtained, which is combined here in tandem with a reconfigured 7-band preselective robot.
According to the passport data, the new Ferrari 488 Pista (characteristics) can accelerate from one place to a hundred in 2.85 seconds, which is 0.15 sec faster than the source code. Further acceleration does not weaken, and the bar in 200 km / h the car takes after 7.6 seconds. from the moment of start (-0.7). The maximum speed reaches 340 km/h.
Of the other technical features of the coupe, it is worth noting the availability of adaptive shock absorbers with the magnetorheological fluid and specially welded for this model of Michelin tires. The car also received a management assistant in Slide Slide Control (SSC) of the sixth generation, a modernized E-Diff trim control of the third generation and a new electronic superstructure of the Ferrari Dynamic Enhancer.
The latter individually adjusts the pressure in the brake mechanisms, focusing on the instantaneous parameters of motion and allowing the most accurate dosing slowdown during the passage of the turns. The sales of Ferrari 488 Pista are scheduled for the second half of 2018, there is no information on the price.
