The Germans brought to the Detroit Motor Show in 2017 the prototype Audi Q8 Concept, which is a precursor present in the development of the largest brand of crossover. The car has received body and an aggressive body kit with large air intakes at the front and a massive rear diffuser. In addition, the concept of the Audi Q8 are no door handles and side windows have no frames. In terms of design the model has received a lot of stylistic solutions from concepts series Prologue, while in the exterior of the Q8 also has references to the classical model of quattro, serialized in the 80s. Salon crossover is designed for four people, and the seats have a combined upholstery leather Nappa leather, nubuck and textiles. Sam interior design is made in the style of the latest models of the brand, while the prototype another configuration of a digital dashboard Virtual Cockpit, a touch screen “hidden” multimedia system on the front panel. Furthermore, there is a touch climate control unit and the second front row. Dimensions Audi Q8 Concept reach the 5002, 2040 and 1700 mm in length, width and height respectively. Cargo capacity is designed for 630 liters. As for the technical stuffing, the movement of the prototype results in a hybrid propulsion system with the ability to recharge the batteries from a household power socket.
It consists of a 3.0-liter “turbo” power of 333 hp, 136-horsepower electric motor, a set of lithium-ion batteries with a capacity of 17.9 kWh and eightfold machine. Maximum torque of such an installation reaches 700 Nm. Note that the power plant can be operated in one of three modes: EV (electric traction is used only), hybrid (combined) and battery hold (used to conserve battery power). The Germans say that the prototype accelerates from zero to hundred in 5.4 seconds and its top speed is electronically limited to 250 km/h. In terms of fuel consumption preproduction Audi Q8 needs about 2.3 liters of fuel per 100 kilometers. One electric coupe is able to overcome the 60 kilometers, with a total cruising range with full tanks up to 1 000 km. Charge the batteries can be about 2.5 hours. It is expected that the production version of the new Audi Q8 will make its debut on the market in 2018 and will compete for customers with the models BMW X6 and the Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe. Later expected to appear all-electric modification Q8 e-tron, which will fight Tesla Model X.
