On the eve of the opening of the Detroit Motor Show in 2011, the company released information Chevrolet and official photo model Sonic, which is a copy of the European version of the Aveo 2nd generation but renamed for the North American market. The car will be presented at the exhibition in two body types – five-door hatchback and sedan. Novelty is an aggressive front end with dual-branded grille, bulging wheel arches and a high window-sill line. In salone Chevrolet Sonic boasts good spaciousness in the rear seat, as well as an unusual instrument panel, made in the spirit of the younger model Spark 3. Among the options for the new items customers can order the system of remote start, heated front seats and sunroof. Under the hood to Sonic will be offered with two engines – a 1.8-liter engine with 135 hp (168 Nm) and 1.4-liter turbocharged power unit, issuing 138 hp (200 Nm). The first of these can be ordered in a pair with a 5-speed manual and 6-speed automatic, and the second – only with 6-speed manual. However, a disappointing drum rear brakes instead of the modern disk mechanisms. The sale of the new Chevrolet Sonic to appear on the US market in late 2011, prices have yet to be announced.
