The fact that Skoda Karoq is not a full-fledged replacement for the mass and affordable Yeti spoke in Skoda itself. It seemed the company had forgotten about its main advantage: inexpensive and spacious cars, however, the Czechs still work on the massive crossover.
In the patent office of China was the application of the Czech company for a model called Kamiaq. About the fact that it is a question of crossover of doubts there are no doubts – under the new policy of the company, the names of crossovers should start at K, and end with q.
Later, photos of the prototype of the crossover appeared on the network. The car looks like a hatchback Skoda Rapid Spaceback, but insiders say that these models do not have any common body parts. In addition, Kamiaq is built on a modular platform MQB: under pressure from the Germans in the Czech company are forced to completely abandon the old, but inexpensive platform PQ25.
It is known and which engine will be equipped with a machine for the Chinese market: it is a 110-horsepower 1.5-liter petrol engine. As the transmission will be offered a 5-speed manual transmission and a 6-speed “automatic”. But whether the car at least in the top versions has a full drive is still unknown.
Most likely Skoda Kamiaq will be presented in April at the Auto Show in Beijing, and in production, it will go at the end of the year. Whether the car will be sold in other markets is unknown.
