In November 2017 in Indonesia were presented the frame crossovers Daihatsu Terios and Toyota Rush a new generation. Both cars are essentially twin models. They are built on the same platform and have almost the same design.
Daihatsu Terios and Toyota Rush 2018 in the new body look more like minivans than crossovers, while the design of their exterior is much like the Toyota Fortuner 2 SUV. In particular, the cars have a similar front end design with a massive grille, slanted headlights and a massive bumper with fog sections.
In the decor of the new Daihatsu Terios a lot of brilliant chrome parts, while on Toyota Rush these elements are made of black chrome. Plus, the latter additionally has decorative lining of unpainted plastic on the front bumper and the same moldings on the doors.
For the basis of both all-terrain vehicles, the Daihatsu compact car platform, also known as the Toyota Avanza, is taken. Both cars retained the frame structure and rear-wheel drive, and can boast of having a solid ground clearance of 220 millimeters.
Dimensions of Daihatsu Terios and Toyota Rush are 4 435, 1 695 and 1 705 mm in length, width and height, respectively. The size of the wheelbase has not yet been announced, but it is known that the interior has become more spacious. Its length increased by 170 mm, while the distance between the first and second row increased by 45 mm. The length of the luggage compartment has increased by 150 mm, but the volume of the cargo hold is still unknown.
Under the hood there was a new 1.5-liter 2NR-VE engine with 105 hp. The latter, according to Japanese experts, is about 25% more economical than a similar-sized 109-horsepower 3SZ-VE engine, which is equipped with cars of the previous generation. As for the boxes, a standard five-speed mechanic or a four-band automatic is available.
The list of basic equipment of cars is presented by six airbags, ABS, multimedia with a 7.0 inch touchpad, climate control, all-LED headlights, keyless entry system and 17-inch alloy wheels.
Serial production of the new model Daihatsu Therios will be adjusted at the Astra Daihatsu Motor plant, in the Indonesian Sunter. In the salons of local dealers, “live” cars will appear in January 2018, after which the manufacturers will establish supplies to other Asian markets. Prices and complete sets have not yet been announced.
