Charged Ferrari 488 GTO to be presented in Geneva

The edition of FerrariPhotoPage published the first information about the “charged” version of the Ferrari 488 GTB, which, according to rumors, will receive the traditional abbreviation GTO (Gran Turismo Omologata).

It is reported that the “charged” Ferrari 488 GTO has the largest number of carbon elements among all models of the Italian brand. Two-door carbon fiber hood, bumpers and a rear spoiler, and on the wheels are fitted with lighter rims (-40%) with Michelin Sports Cup 2 tires.

According to journalists, a new aerodynamic body kit with an active rear spoiler made it possible to achieve a 20 percent improvement in the aerodynamics of the model.

Carbon in the “charged” Ferrari 488 GTO is used not only outside, but also in the cabin. Here, the instrument panel and the central tunnel are made of it, while for the sake of simplifying the interior Italians also installed aluminum floor panels.

The novelty is driven by the upgraded 3.9-liter engine from the race 488 Challenge. According to rumors, this engine produces about 700 hp. and weighs 10% lighter than the conventional 488 GTB power pack.

The upcoming Ferrari 488 GTO promises to be the most powerful road car of the brand, while the company further optimizes the transmission and steering settings. The premiere of the new model will be held at the Geneva Motor Show in 2018 March.
