In late August 2017, the Bavarian automaker introduced the “charged” sedan BMW M5 in the new F90 body. The debut of the novelty will be held in September at the Frankfurt Motor Show – exactly one year after the premiere of the new BMW 5-Series G30 model. From the standard “five”, the new BMW M5 2017-2018 was distinguished by an aggressive front bumper with large air intakes, a hump on the bonnet, air intakes in the front wings, a spoiler on the trunk lid, and another rear bumper with a diffuser and quartet of round exhaust pipes. In addition, the car stands out with original rear-view mirrors, a black carbon-fiber roof, 19-inch Orbit Gray wheels, behind which are visible blue calipers of the high-performance braking system, as well as exclusive body painting options. In the interior of the BMW M5 2017 in the new body of the F90, there are sports seats, a steering wheel and a transmission selector, metal covers on pedals and door sills, a different graphic on the instrument panel with a speedometer marked up to 330 km/h, and leather and carbon inserts.


Under the hood of the new model BMW M5 F90, a modernized 4.4-liter V8 twin-turbo was added, which was increased from 560 to 600 “horses” and 700 Nm of torque. The engine is paired with an eight-band automatic machine, as well as an all-wheel drive system M xDrive, which will fully realize all the power and compete on an equal footing with the E 63 W213. The company calls its new all-wheel-drive system “the most emotionally attractive”. It is equipped with an electronically controlled multi-plate clutch, locked in the range of 0-100% (at the push of a button it is possible to activate the rear-drive mode), as well as an active rear M-differential. To accelerate from a place to a hundred, the new BMW M5 2018 requires 3.4 seconds, which is 0.9 seconds at a time. Faster predecessor and a mark of 200 km/h sedan take 11.1 seconds later. The maximum speed by default is electronically limited to 250 kilometers per hour, but with the optional M Driver’s package, the collar will be weakened to 305 km/h. Many fans of this model were worried that adding an all-wheel drive would make the “em-five” too heavy, but eventually, the car weighs 1,855 kg against 1,945, which pulls on the M5 F10 scales. And if you fork over expensive carbon-ceramic brakes, then the mass of the sedan can be reduced by another 23 kilos. By the way, in the base, there are six-piston calipers in front of the floating brace behind.

Packages and prices

Receiving orders for the BMW M5 (F90) start in September, the car price in Germany starts from 117,900 euros, and the first customers will receive their cars in the spring of 2018. And after paying a price of another € 19 500, you can order a sedan in a special version of First Edition, which is limited to a circulation of 400 pieces. This option is painted in a special shade of Frozen Dark Red Metallic, has 20-inch alloy wheels, a shadow line package, a special interior trim and a serial number plate.
