BMW has extended the official photos and some information about the conceptual Active Tourer hatchback, see who could live at the Paris Motor Show 2012 at the end of September. The concept is especially notable for two technical solutions. Firstly, BMW Active Tourer – is the first in the history of the Bavarian car manufacturer with front-wheel drive. Secondly, under its hood installed a brand new 1.5-liter three-cylinder turbo engine, which is part of a hybrid power plant. The latter consists also of an electric motor and a set of lithium-ion batteries. The total output of the two engines of 190 hp, which allows to gain the first hundred hatchback with space for eight seconds to accelerate to a top speed of 200 km/h. Average fuel consumption in the combined cycle concept is only 2.5 liters per hundred kilometers. However, he can move only on electric at a distance of 30 kilometers. Batteries can be recharged from a household mains voltage of 220 volts, but the time of their full charge is not specified. We can already say with certainty that apparently the prototype is a pre-production version of the future model BMW 2 Series Active Tourer. Overall length hatchback is 4350 m (value wheelbase 2670), width – 1834, height – 1 560. It is a bit shorter, but slightly wider and higher than the new Mercedes-benz B-Class 2012 – the main competitor of the future trends. Shop concept still looks more futuristic than the exterior, so it’s probably waiting for significant changes in the serial car. Panoramic glass roof with adjustable dimming level, dubbed Cool Shade, perhaps, will be offered for “edinichki” GT as an option.
