BMW has officially announced the creation of a new sub-brand “i”, which will be produced by hybrid and electric cars of the German company. The first model in the line “i” will be a hatchback BMW i3, known as Project Megacity, as well as the sports coupe the BMW i8, created based on the concept Vision EfficientDynamics. Production of new products will be established on the German company’s plant in Leipzig, and the first production car to appear in 2013. The compact hatchback BMW i3 with a landing formula 2+2 will receive electric power of 170 hp (250 Nm), which will be powered by lithium-ion batteries. Estimated cruising range electric vehicle will be about 160 km, but has developed a hybrid version, which will be assisted by an electric motor standard motor. Coupe BMW i8 will receive the same electric motor as a model i3, which will be paired with a three-cylinder gasoline engine 1.5-liter, hybrid providing acceleration from zero to hundred in 4.8 seconds and a top speed of 250 km/h.
