American startup Workhorse announced the start of work on the world’s first hybrid pickup truck, which recharge the batteries can be from a household power socket.
It is expected that the novelty will be built on a tubular frame made of high strength stainless steel. The machine is also easy to get a body made of composite materials, and in the cabin pick-up double cabin can accommodate up to five people.
Four-wheel drive hybrid pickup Workhorse ( “workhorse”) will equip the power plant with two electric motors located on the front and rear axles. They will receive energy from a set of Panasonic’s lithium-ion batteries, full charge which should be enough for about 130 km.
The car also will receive a compact internal combustion engine, but the latter will only be used as a generator to recharge the batteries. This solution will increase the range of up to 500 kilometers.
Representatives Workhorse announced that the already established a working prototype, road tests which will begin in the near future. The official premiere hybrid pickup is scheduled for 2018.
